Votez

This email contains details on:
- Current System Status
- Current Secondary DNS System Status
- Current Support System Status
- Future Website Changes
- Request For Help
- Current Donation Status
- Thanks
o- Current System Status:
EveryDNS.Net has been very quiet the last few months but our service
has been stable and running smoothly. We currently operate four
primary nameservers in San Diego, San Francisco, Dulles, and The
Netherlands. These four servers are very stable and offer the
redundancy required for a robust service.
o- Current Secondary System Status:
Yesterday we rewrote much of our secondary DNS system to make it much
faster. We now keep your zone active in DNS in the event of an AXFR
failure instead of simply dropping it from the system. We also grab
zones every hour and support for Bind-style NTFY's will be here
shortly. This change makes the secondary system much more resilient
to failure or temporary network outages.
o- Current Support System Status:
Our method of dealing with support requests is unreliable and causes
many support issues to go unanswered. We have FIXED this! From now
on please use `support@everybox.com` when contacting support and the
request will be put into a trouble ticket system which helps us
manage and answer questions in a timely fashion. This will greatly
enhance our ability to help you. The support address on the website
has been updated to reflect this change.
o- Future Website Changes:
A new website is nearing completion which offers much easier DNS
management in addition to a slew of optional advanced features aimed
at power users. Documentation and a framework for answering support
questions has been created. The new site is also W3C standards
compliant.
o- Request For Help:
To get the new site ready and to help answer support questions we
need some help. We are looking for a volunteer or two with advanced
experience using: PHP, Smarty, SQL, XHTML+CSS. We need someone who
has a lot of experience with those skills and is especially good with
user interface design since one of the hardest parts of making a DNS
frontend for the web is making it usable.
In addition to the web programmer we are also looking for a few
people to help answer support questions. We have a whole web
interface to help make the process easy but I just need some help
answering all the questions. If you're interested in getting
involved with EveryDNS but you aren't a top-notch programmer then
this is a great way to do so. While some familiarity in DNS would be
a great help, we are happy to provide some training.
If you are available to help with either of these requests, please
contact `davidu-request@everydns.net`.
o- Current Donation Status:
This is not a request for more donations, although those always help
us cover our costs. Rather, I know that some donations have not been
processed in our system and some users who have donated do not have
that reflected in their account profile. If you have donated and it
does not show this in your account profile please email
`donations@everybox.com` and your request will be handled. We want
to make sure all of our contributors are thanked and properly
recognized.
o- Thanks:
We appreciate all of the feedback and comments our users give us. We
also appreciate the loyal service so many of you have given us. If
you have personal comments you wish to relay to me (davidu), I can be
emailed at my usual address, `davidu@everydns.net`. General comments
can be sent to the new support address at `support@everybox.com`.
Sincerely,
EveryDNS.Net
