Hi folks,

As one of the release drivers for Thunderbird, I just wanted to check in and say we are watching this issue. At the moment, I'm trying to gather evidence as to how severe this and get a feeling of how it compares to issues we've had in the past. The feedback I've been getting so far is indicating that only a few people are seeing this, but if they are seeing it, then they generally see it quite a bit.

Once we've got enough info, we'll make a call one way or the other, I'm hoping to make that call tomorrow.

I'd agree, however this issue was first reported to us less than a week before the release by only one person using a non-standard configuration, afaict we had no previous feedback from our Earlybird and Beta channel users about this issue. That's why we didn't take see it as a significant issue. Given that the release had already been in testing for over 12 weeks, I doubt extending that cycle would have helped.

This is why we'd like to encourage more people to use our Earlybird and Beta channels - the more people we can get on these, the more likelihood there is of us finding these regressions in time for release.
